Comprehensive ADHD Evaluation and Diagnosis
ADHD is a developmental disorder with symptoms that begin in childhood and continue through a person’s life. It can be complicated to diagnose because these symptoms can look like other physical and mental health conditions, such as anxiety, trauma, brain injuries, and sleep disorders.
Our goal at NW ADHD Treatment Center is to get the most comprehensive and accurate diagnostic picture possible by eliminating these possibilities. The process involves time and will take several meetings between you and one of our providers.
Our evaluation process at Northwest ADHD Treatment Center
First appointment
You can expect your provider to go over the evaluation process with you, review paperwork you completed prior to your appointment, and review your current physical and mental health factors that may be impacting your attention. Log into the patient portal to provide as much detail as you can prior to your appointment
Second appointment
Your provider will continue to ask you a series of questions, this time focusing on gathering a thorough history of symptom presentation.
Third appointment
We ask someone you know to join an appointment to give an outside perspective on how symptoms have been showing up and impacting your life. This part of the process is called “collateral data gathering.” Collateral data sources are individuals who know you well. You and your provider will work together to decide who may be a good person to join you for this visit.
Last Evaluation Appointment
Your provider will review diagnostic findings and answer your questions. They will also engage in treatment planning with you, including therapy and medication management services pending availability.
There are times when your evaluation will take longer than four sessions, as more information may be needed to make an accurate diagnosis.

In some cases a direct referral to a Nurse Practitioner may be appropriate. However, it’s our process that a thorough evaluation will typically be conducted before a referral to a Nurse Practitioner is made. Scientific evidence demonstrates that the combination of therapy and medication will result in the best outcome. Part of the evaluation will include recommendations regarding your individual need for therapy.
